How to analyze your audio files online

Import your audio files using the tool above: drag and drop them onto the upload area or click to open the file picker. The Track Analyzer will detect both BPM and musical key for each track and display the results as soon as they are ready. You can queue multiple files at once and copy each result with one click.

Why BPM and key are the two essential track metrics

BPM (beats per minute) measures a track's tempo, how fast it moves. Musical key describes its harmonic foundation, the set of notes and chords that define its sound. For DJs, BPM enables beatmatching while key enables harmonic mixing. Knowing both for every track in your library gives you the information you need to plan smooth, musically coherent sets.

Harmonic mixing with the Camelot Wheel

The Camelot Wheel assigns a number and letter to each musical key (e.g. 8A for A minor, 8B for C major). Tracks with the same or adjacent Camelot numbers mix harmonically without clashing. Track Analyzer displays the Camelot value alongside the standard key notation so you can immediately see which tracks are compatible.

Frequently asked questions

Can it detect BPM and key at the same time?

Yes. The Track Analyzer detects both BPM and musical key in a single pass. Results appear together once analysis is complete, usually in under 3 seconds per track.

How accurate is the detection?

Very accurate. The Track Analyzer uses the same professional-grade tempo and harmonic analysis algorithms that power our Track Analyzer app on Mac. BPM and key detection both complete in under 3 seconds per track.

What is Camelot Wheel notation?

The Camelot Wheel maps musical keys to numbers and letters (e.g. 8A for A minor, 8B for C major) to make harmonic mixing easier. Tracks with adjacent Camelot numbers mix harmonically, so DJs use it to find compatible tracks quickly. The Track Analyzer displays both standard musical notation and the Camelot equivalent.

What audio file formats are supported?

Most common audio formats are supported, including MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, FLAC, AIFF, and OGG. Simply drag and drop files onto the tool or click to open the file picker.

Can I use this on my phone or tablet?

Yes, this web tool works on any device with a modern browser, including phones and tablets. For a faster offline experience, the Track Analyzer app is available on the App Store for Mac. Processing tracks 5x faster with no internet required.

Why do DJs need both BPM and key?

BPM enables beatmatching — aligning the rhythms of two tracks for a smooth transition. Musical key enables harmonic mixing — blending tracks whose melodies and chords are musically compatible. Together they are the two most important pieces of metadata for crafting seamless DJ sets.
